Ants

Have you ever stopped and watched ants as they are going about their daily work? You have scouts who are responsible for going out and searching for food. You have worker ants that help maintain the daily living of the colonies. Their priorities are simple: protect and care for the queen, defend the colony and to expand their species by creating new colonies. You see the scouts return to the colony once a food source has been discovered. They communicate with other ants of what they found and lead them to the source. You will often see them on a path, following one after another to collect the prize. Once they begin gathering the food, you will observe another line heading back to the colony. Now this is where things can get a little bit tricky. Sometimes the ants can have certain obstacles placed in their way, but they seek out an alternate route in order to continue their mission. Yes, they may lose some members along the way, but they still manage to get the job done.

How does this relate to our daily life? Well, I am glad you asked me. Our forefathers were the scouts. They went out to seek knowledge and resources (food) to support their family (colony). Once they accomplished this, they came to impart their knowledge upon their children so that they too can go out and gather further knowledge and resources that are needed to sustain their families. There may be obstacles that may fall in your path, but it is up to us to find an alternate route to gain success. Yes, we may lose some ants (friends, family members and associates) along the way and this is quite ok because they may not be what is right for you and the success you will receive on your journey. Your highest priority in all of this is to protect the queen (learn of God’s mighty kingdom), defend the colony (study and learn God’s word and share it with those that do not know him or are shaky in their faith) and expand to create new colonies (help others and through your work you grow the kingdom of God.)

This simple everyday occurrence can be applied to daily life in so many other ways. As it pertains to me and those in my colony, the task is simple: continue to be there for families and friends as well as keeping our colony strong, overcome those obstacles, such as the naysayers and those who speak negatively, and finally we must continue to work glorifying God and share his goodness and mercy the entire way.
